Benton Central Varsity Baseball Falls to Clinton Prairie

4/14/2025 Frankfort, IN The Benton Central Varsity Bison struggled against a strong Clinton Prairie squad, falling 23–0 on Monday. Clinton Prairie wasted no time getting on the board, scoring nine runs in the bottom of the first inning. Alex King opened the scoring with an RBI double. Additional runs came from a Benton Central error, a two-run single by Cayden Robinson, an RBI groundout by Wyatt Harshbarger, an RBI double from Elijah Edwards, an RBI single by Kye Jacobs, a two-run triple from King, and a single by Ben Schlicher that brought in another run. The Gophers added seven more runs in the second inning, collecting six hits. Highlights included an RBI walk by Harshbarger, an RBI single by Jackson Price, a sacrifice fly from King, an RBI single by Luke Harshbarger, a two-run single by Malachi Corbin, and another run scored on a Benton Central error. Clinton Prairie continued to extend their lead in the third inning, capitalizing on a double by Price, multiple walks, a hit-by-pitch, and another Benton Central error to bring in additional runs. Clinton Prairie's pitcher, Price, earned the win with a dominant three-inning performance, allowing just one hit and no runs while striking out five and walking one. Benton Central's Kolin Miller took the loss, pitching two-thirds of an inning and allowing seven runs (three earned) on five hits. Spencer Flook led Benton Central offensively, going 1-for-2 at the plate. Clinton Prairie racked up 17 hits in total. King drove in four runs, going 2-for-2. Corbin had a standout performance, going 4-for-4. Price, Jacobs, and Robinson each collected multiple hits, while Price and Robinson also recorded multiple stolen bases. Clinton Prairie stole six bases overall and turned one double play in the game. The Bison will look to bounce back on Tuesday, 4/15/25 when they travel to Lafayette Central Catholic for a key Hoosier Conference game.
