Chilly Start, Fiery Finish: Brouillette Wins Playoff as Harrison Takes Team Title

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 25, 2026 OXFORD, IN — A brisk and chilly start to the morning gave way to a heated and highly competitive finish at the 2026 Benton Central Boys Golf Invitational, held Saturday at Oak Grove Country Club. As temperatures gradually rose, so did the level of play—particularly among the top four team finishers and the race for individual medalist honors. The spotlight ultimately centered on a thrilling showdown between Benton Central’s Jaxon Brouillette and Frontier’s Brady Greer. Both golfers turned in impressive rounds of 6-over-par 77, forcing a playoff to determine the tournament’s low medalist. With composure and clutch shot-making, Brouillette edged out Greer in the playoff to claim medalist honors and cap off an outstanding performance on his home course. The team race proved just as competitive, with tight scoring throughout the top of the leaderboard. Harrison captured the team title with a score of 345, narrowly edging McCutcheon (347) and Covington (349). Benton Central Gold placed fourth with a strong round of 350, just five strokes off the lead. The event once again highlighted the depth of talent in the area and provided an exciting midseason test for all participating programs.
