OXFORD, Ind. — The Benton Central Bison put on an offensive showcase Thursday night, powering past North Newton in a 17-7 victory fueled by timely hitting and big swings throughout the lineup. Tanner Pitstick led the charge with a monster performance, blasting two home runs and driving in four runs. His long balls in the second and fifth innings highlighted a night where the Bison offense was firing on all cylinders. Benton Central wasted no time setting the tone, jumping on the board in the first inning when Spencer Flook launched a solo home run to right field. The Bison continued to apply pressure early, erupting for five runs in the second inning to take control of the game. Nolan Winkler delivered the biggest hit of the frame with a three-run triple, helping flip the scoreboard in Benton Central’s favor. The momentum only grew in the third inning, as the Bison plated five more runs. Flook struck again with a three-run home run to center, while Carter Fox added a sacrifice fly and Parker Sexton chipped in an RBI to extend the lead. Benton Central added the finishing touches in the fifth inning. Pitstick’s second home run of the night—a three-run blast to center—capped off a four-run inning and put the game firmly out of reach. On the mound, the Bison got solid work out of the bullpen. Winkler, Weise, and Fox each delivered scoreless innings in relief to keep North Newton at bay and secure the win. The Bison racked up 14 hits in the game, with Pitstick and Winkler leading the way with three hits apiece. Flook also turned in a big night at the plate with multiple home runs, while Weise added two hits. Benton Central showed patience as well, drawing seven walks as a team. The Bison will look to keep the momentum rolling as they travel to Tri-County on Friday.
