For Immediate Release Oxford, IN - 4/21/2026 The Benton Central Lady Bison delivered a dominant performance Tuesday night at their home quad, piling up 101 points to claim the team championship over Faith Christian, Lafayette Central Catholic, and Attica. Benton Central set the tone early and never let up, using depth and balance across the track and field events to separate from the field. The distance crew was especially strong, led by Loralei Rayman, who captured the 1600-meter run title in 5:37.02 and added a runner-up finish in the 800. Harlo Holder added another individual championship in the 3200 meters (12:24.85) while also contributing to the winning 4x800 relay team. On the track, Keagan Strickland raced to victory in the 100-meter hurdles (17.76), while Riley Sowders showcased her versatility with a win in the 300 hurdles and a leg on the first-place 4x100 relay team. That relay squad—Kendall Gephart, Olive Budreau, Sowders, and Paige Renfrow—crossed in 55.70 to secure another six points. In the field events, the Lady Bison dominated. Patience Bice and Sarah Lambeck went 1-2 in the long jump, while Sophia Zarate swept the throws, winning both shot put (32-5.5) and discus (122-0). Ashira Dean added a runner-up finish in discus and third in shot put to further pad Benton Central’s lead. The 4x800 relay team of Holder, Maddie Peterson, Loralei Rayman, and Maggie Rayman also claimed gold, continuing a strong night for Benton Central’s distance runners. On the boys’ side, Benton Central finished third with 55 points in a competitive field led by Lafayette Central Catholic. The Bison were powered by strong individual efforts, including Eliyjah Roberson, who captured the 200-meter dash title (24.07). Alex Glotzbach added another victory in the 400 meters (54.24) and later contributed to the second-place 4x800 relay team alongside Sam Fleming, Jonah Fleming, and Peyton Thayer. In the field events, the Bison showed depth in the throws, placing four athletes in the top five of discus, led by Logan Hoaks (2nd, 116-6). Aramis Martinez, Dominic Dean, and Bransen Jones also scored key points in both shot put and discus. The night highlighted Benton Central’s balance across events, with the girls’ team delivering a complete, championship-level performance and the boys continuing to build momentum with multiple event wins and strong finishes. The Boys' and Girls' Track & Field teams will return to action on Friday night, April 24th as they travel to Monticello, IN to compete in the Twin Lakes Relays. Competition will begin at 6:00 PM.
