For Immediate Release Oxford, IN - 4/21/26 Behind a dominant performance on the mound and an explosive night at the plate, Benton Central Varsity Bison rolled to a commanding 10-0 victory over North Newton on Tuesday. Parker Sexton set the tone early and never let up. The right-hander was in complete control, striking out 10 batters over five shutout innings while allowing just two hits and issuing no walks. His efficiency and command kept North Newton off balance all night and gave the Bison the momentum they needed from the start. Benton Central broke through in the second inning when Cade Johnson delivered an RBI single to open the scoring. From there, the offense found its rhythm in a big way. The Bison erupted in the third inning, plating three runs on a flurry of hits. Mason Schutter provided the highlight with a two-run blast to center field, energizing the dugout, while Tanner Pitstick followed with an RBI single to extend the lead. At the plate, Benton Central was relentless, racking up 14 hits. Nolan Winkler, Schutter, Sexton, Lucas Snyder, and Spencer Flook each recorded two hits in a balanced offensive effort. Schutter, Sexton, Johnson, Snyder, Pitstick, and Flook all contributed an RBI, showcasing the depth throughout the lineup. Defensively, the Bison remained sharp, turning a key double play to back Sexton’s stellar outing and keep North Newton from gaining any traction. With the win, Benton Central carries strong momentum into their next matchup, as they travel to North Newton on Thursday, April 23rd, looking to complete the sweep against the Spartans.
