The Benton Central Lady Bison put together an explosive performance on Friday, rolling past Rensselaer Central 12-2 in a dominant showing on the road. Leading the charge was Madison Minniear, who delivered a huge day at the plate with three hits and four RBIs. Minniear wasted no time setting the tone, launching a two-run home run to center field in the first inning. She followed that up with an RBI single in the second and an RBI double in the fifth, capping off a complete offensive performance. Benton Central jumped ahead early in the opening frame. Chloe Linder brought home the first run with a sacrifice fly before Minniear’s blast quickly extended the lead to 3-0. The Lady Bison broke the game open in the second inning, erupting for six runs on seven hits. Linder added an RBI double, Minniear knocked in another run, and contributions continued across the lineup as Sydney Groves, Julianna Sibray, and Izabella Bauer each drove in runs during the surge. The relentless offense put Benton Central firmly in control. In the circle, Reagan Dowell delivered a steady outing, pitching five innings while allowing just two runs (one earned) on four hits. She struck out five and worked through some traffic to keep Rensselaer at bay. The Lady Bison offense was firing on all cylinders, piling up 17 hits as a team. Minniear, Adalynn Keller, Harper Butler, and Bauer each recorded three hits, while Sibray added a pair. Defensively, Benton Central was just as sharp—playing error-free softball and turning a double play. Kennedy Dowell anchored the defense with six putouts. With the win the Lady Bison improve to 4-2 and 2-1 in the Hoosier Conference, Benton Central carries strong momentum into their next matchup as they the travel to Milford, Illinois on Monday, April 20th.
